A Message to all WHO users - PLEASE READ
Friends, fellow Hammers & WHO users we have recently been undergoing some background work on the website in light of some changes we have planned, part of this process involved moving the entire website and database to a new hosting company with bigger servers to enable us to have a user friendly experience when traffic is high

With this has come some new protocols where in this day & age casual racism, severe threats etc are now totally unacceptable and WHO was taken down due to breaches being violated, in this instance we were informed it was a "Human Rights Violation" which we are currently investigating, some of you that have grown up with WHO have taken for granted the way the site was laid back in it's moderation, but this will have to change to fall in line with new legislation especially regarding hate speech

You all have a responsibility to self govern your posts and keep it within the boundaries of current legislation and the moderators will be told to take action where appropriate, if we can't comply with these simple guidelines then I'm afraid WHO will be no more and that will be a sad day for many of us

Sorry mate, it's fucked then. WHO's primary appeal was the rough and tumble nature of it, the lack of moderation and political correctness. If that has gone it really has no purpose.

Can the servers/database etc not be relocated to a friendlier jurisdiction? I don't know enough about these things to comment really, but people on here will know.

north bank, i got out of order on the world cup thread but that mainly due to a handful of characters who were only there to wind up the england fans. if using the C word is no longer acceptable please say so, we'd be better off knowing the clear boundaries rather than be banned and then be told

Yeah mate you're going to have to be a bit clearer about what the new rules are.

Mike - the idea and appeal of WHO is mainly that you can get out of order. As someone so succinctly summed it up, WHO is Wetherspoons and KUMB and the like are real ale pubs full of Val Doonicans.

I was wondering when something like this might be said.

Considering there are real prosecutions and possible jail time being handed out for online jokes, it is probably not surprising.

Speaks to a bigger free speech problem but not sure a football forum is the hill to chose to die on.

Miike

Mate, most here have had a word or two that here that would be best described as less than PC perfect, as said, all part of the appeal and fabric

North, can you be more specific please upon the boundaries? I

Not been on for ages but been here for years under a few different guises. Part of WHO history and appeal was the banter, joking around and 'fight threads' Sometimes WHO is a place that is out of control with personal threats, private info on posters being posted etc and so on.....

Honest opinion? If WHO cannot operate as it has for YEARS the site will have lost its appeal to a large majority of posters.

Just shut the site down and be done with it

Swearing should still be ok.
It's basically the stuff that you couldn't legally say to someone's face - sexism, racism, homophobia etc.

Still better than those cunts on kumb..

I was threatened to be stabbed with a screwdriver on here the other night cause I called trippier a diving cunt. But you just laugh it off like everything else on here.

At the moment the hosting company haven't been clear but we will examine this with due diligence in the days ahead, pretty sure cunting someone off especially in banter will still be tolerated, but obviously we'll update everyone once this has been made clear

I don't want to see this site become as sterile as kumb as I've always loved the anarchic way in which it flowed, let's not jump to conclusions until we know exactly where we stand but be on our best behaviour until, then otherwise this site will be gone for good
